5 Grooming Tips to Keep Your style Looking Sharp in Florida’s Humidity

Florida humidity doesn’t play fair. You can walk out of the studio looking clean and sharp, only to step outside and feel the air instantly working against you. The good news? Keeping your style on point between visits isn’t hard if you know the right routine. Here are five tips I share with my clients every day here in Lakeland.

1. Wash Smart — but Not Too Often

Over-washing your hair can strip out natural oils and make your hair more frizz-prone. Stick to washing with a quality, sulfate-free shampoo two to three times a week. On non-wash days, just rinse with cool water or use a light conditioner to keep things balanced.

2. Blow Dry with Purpose

Humidity loves chaos. If you want a neat look, take a couple of minutes to blow dry in the direction you want your hair to lay. Use medium heat, keep the dryer moving, and finish with a cool blast to lock it in.

3. Use the Right Styling Products

Choose lightweight products that can stand up to the heat. I’m a big fan of matte clays or light pomades — they give control without making your hair heavy or greasy. Pro tip: a pea-sized amount is plenty for most styles.

4. Schedule Regular Cleanups

Humidity or not, nothing beats a freshly detailed cut. Every three to four weeks is the sweet spot for most guys to keep edges sharp and the overall shape clean. Bonus: regular trims mean less daily styling effort.

5. Protect Against the Elements

A light finishing spray or a leave-in conditioner can be your secret weapon. It creates a barrier that keeps your hair hydrated and tames flyaways, even on the stickiest Lakeland afternoons.

Your style doesn’t have to surrender to Florida’s humidity. Stick with these simple steps and your cut will look fresh from one appointment to the next.

When you’re ready for your next cleanup, book your spot — and yes, I’ll throw in a dad joke for free.
